Transfusion Clinical Nurse Specialist
Quality Clinical Safety and Nursing
About the role
The Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Transfusion Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 (CNS2) to join our team. This advanced practice role provides complex, specialist nursing care with a high level of autonomy and clinical judgement, while leading the development and delivery of best practice transfusion services.
The successful candidate will act as a key resource and role model, contributing to education, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative models of care. Working collaboratively with NSW Health Pathology and multidisciplinary teams, the CNS2 will support safe, effective, and patient-centred transfusion practices in line with NSQHS Standard 7 – Blood Management.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to influence clinical practice across a diverse and dynamic health district. You will provide leadership in auditing, policy development, staff education, and clinical governance, ensuring compliance with transfusion protocols and continuous improvement in patient outcomes. We are looking for a Registered Nurse with AHPRA registration, relevant postgraduate qualifications, and demonstrated experience in transfusion or a related specialty.
A commitment to clinical excellence, strong communication skills, and the ability to work across multiple sites are essential. Join WNSWLHD and play a pivotal role in advancing transfusion safety and quality care for our communities.
