What you'll be doing
Responsible to the Inpatients Pharmacy Coordinator for the provision of a comprehensive pharmacy service to patients at Westmead Hospital and to ensure the safe, appropriate and cost-effective use of medicines.
Facilitate medication assessment and provide quality pharmaceutical care to patients, actively contributing to multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective clinical pharmacy services.
Perform or supervise tasks of drug distribution necessary to ensure the safe and accurate distribution of medication, and apply medication management programs consistent with departmental and hospital policies.
Promote antimicrobial stewardship strategies such as appropriate prescribing of antimicrobials in accordance with Drug Committee and other approved evidence-based guidelines.
Provide medicine information to clinical staff and patients, and effectively supervise the work of pharmacy technicians, other supportive staff and students as required.
Participate in departmental quality assurance and key performance indicator programs, and be willing and able to work overtime, weekends and on-call as per departmental rosters.

Essential Requirements
Full and unrestricted Pharmacist Registration with AHPRA
Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent, satisfying Grade 2 classification under the Health Employees Pharmacists (State) Award
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated excellent communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal).
Demonstrated extensive experience in clinical hospital pharmacy with satisfactory pharmacy dispensing experience in Australia (or equivalent).
Demonstrated excellent therapeutic knowledge and ability to exercise a high level of initiative in the application of pharmaceutical principles to clinical practice.
Demonstrated organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work and manage time to meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team with a high degree of self-motivation and ability to effect practice change.
Excellent time management with attention to detail.
