THE OPPORTUNITY

Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) is a key provider of healthcare services across a large geographical area, delivering high-quality, safe, and accessible care to regional communities. Operating within NSW Health, the District works closely with the Ministry of Health, HealthShare, and local stakeholders to meet performance targets and achieve sustainable health outcomes. THE ROLE

Reporting to the Associate Director Finance, the Manager Financial Accounting will lead the delivery of statutory financial reporting and accounting services for the District. This includes managing end-to-end annual financial statement processes, liaising with external auditors, interpreting and implementing accounting and taxation changes, and ensuring the integrity of financial systems. The role will also contribute to strategic planning within the Finance Directorate, integrating accounting services with broader financial planning, budgeting, and analysis functions to support organisational decision-making.

THE CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will be a CPA or CA-qualified accounting professional with substantial experience in financial accounting leadership within a complex organisation. They will bring expertise in statutory reporting, internal controls, taxation, and compliance, coupled with a strong track record of leading high-performing teams. Exceptional stakeholder engagement, change management, and problem-solving skills are essential, alongside the ability to interpret and apply relevant accounting standards and legislation. A collaborative, results-oriented approach and the capacity to drive continuous improvement will be key to success in this role.
