  1. Possess or be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) or equivalent as provided for by the Health Insurance Act 1997 and the Staff Specialist (NSW) Award; demonstrated commitment to Continuing Professional Development including self-monitoring /auditing practices relevant to the Scope of Clinical Practice of the position.
  2. Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality mental health services within an acute psychiatric setting; demonstrated commitment to person-centred, recovery oriented, family inclusive and trauma informed principles of care.
  3. Demonstrated ability to support and work collaboratively with clinical teams (including the peer, nursing, and allied health work force) and with other teams and agencies, in the provision of high quality therapeutic care that is sensitive to biological, psychological, social, cultural and spiritual domains.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to communicate, negotiate and collaborate at a high level, both verbally and in written form, and to helpfully engage with and negotiate conflict and differences.
  5. Experience with or proven capacity for activities that will improve the quality of service provision, including clinical governance and quality activities such as audits and risk management activities.
  6. Demonstrated skill and commitment to the teaching and supervision of junior medical staff consistent with contemporary supervision standards, the support and teaching of medical students, and the principles of inter-professional learning. Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to the support of quantitative / qualitative / theoretical research activities relevant to the needs of the Mental Health Service and its staff.
  7. Qualities, skills, attitudes and articulated values consistent with a senior medical practitioner working with patients across the age span and their social networks, who provides leadership to fellow medical colleagues and who always demonstrates the highest ethical and professional standards.
  8. Current NSW Driver’s Licence or eligible for same within 12 months.
