We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse – Mental Health to join our multidisciplinary team and deliver recovery oriented, person centred mental health care. In this role, you will provide safe, evidence based and culturally responsive care, undertaking mental health assessments and contributing to care planning in collaboration with consumers, carers and the wider team. You will use strong therapeutic communication skills to support consumer recovery while managing risk and promoting dignity, safety and wellbeing.
You will take professional accountability for your practice, engage in reflective practice and ongoing professional development, and contribute to a positive team culture through mentoring and supporting others. Practice will align with professional standards, ethical frameworks and NSW Health policies, including the NSW Health Code of Conduct and Transforming Your Experience principles. This role is ideal for a Registered Nurse with a passion for mental health and a commitment to delivering compassionate, high quality care.

SWSLHD provides specialist mental health assessment, intervention and treatment to consumers with a range of mental health issues who face an array of social challenges. If you are a registered nurse with prior experience and have a keen interest to pursue a career in mental health nursing, we want to hear from you!
Employment to the mental health casual pool gives you the opportunity to work across Inpatient Mental Health Services including Liverpool, Bankstown and Campbelltown Hospital. We utilise Employee Online Login (EOL) where you can seamlessly view and allocate your own shifts to suit your schedule and lifestyle.
Selection Criteria

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Can you describe your mental health nursing experience over the past 12 months, including the clinical settings you have worked in, and give an example of managing a consumer who was distressed, agitated, or at risk of escalation?

•What interventions did you use?
•How did you ensure safety and therapeutic engagement?
•What was the outcome? - As a casual nurse, you may be allocated to different mental health units at short notice. How do you adapt to unfamiliar environments while maintaining safe, person-centred care and working effectively within the team?
