About the Opportunity
Are you passionate about creating a safe and secure environment for staff, patients, and visitors? Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is seeking dedicated Health and Security Assistants to join our dynamic team. This role requires candidates with strong computer literacy skills, particularly in data entry, and the ability to operate electronic security systems effectively.
We value individuals with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, who can engage confidently with staff at all levels, patients, and the public. A sound understanding of security techniques, including conflict resolution, de-escalation, and restraint practices, is essential. Additionally, we are looking for team players who demonstrate flexibility, a commitment to work health and safety principles, and proficiency in safe manual handling and infection control practices.
What you'll be doing
Supporting the care delivery team is at the heart of the HASA role. You will provide support to the nursing team in Emergency Department in the delivery of patient care, under the guidance of nursing staff. You will also provide general assistance in the ward environment, cleaning, provide portering for patient transfers around the facility, and you will undertake security related duties as required by the nursing In-Charge and Security Manager. It is expected that HASA provide the highest possible standard of customer service and professionalism at all times.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees.
The hospital receives highly diverse presentations in ED as well as having general medical and surgical services and sub-specialty services across the hospital. - Must hold a current Class 1A Security License with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, Current First Aid Certificate and must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
- Participation in a 7 day rotating roster that includes weekends, public and school holidays, including morning, afternoon and night shifts.
