We're on the lookout for a Clinical Nurse Educator to join our Medical/Surgical Inpatient Unit. You will have the opportunity to shape clinical excellence, strengthen workforce capability, and support nurses to deliver outstanding patient care. 

  • Education program leadership — Coordinate and deliver high‑quality training and development initiatives across medical and surgical teams. 
  • Staff capability development — Support orientation, transition, and ongoing competency growth for both new and experienced nurses. 
  • Clinical skills advancement — Facilitate hands‑on skills training, simulation sessions, and structured professional development activities. 
  • Evidence‑based practice support — Champion quality improvement, promote best‑practice care, and ensure compliance with mandatory training and professional standards. 
  • Clinical mentorship — Provide expert guidance, coaching, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and workforce capability.

You will bring to the role:

  • Clinical expertise — Extensive experience within medical and/or surgical inpatient environments, with a strong grasp of contemporary nursing practice. 
  • Education and coaching experience — A proven ability to teach, mentor, and support staff through structured learning and professional development. 
  • Leadership and communication — Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the confidence to influence, guide, and collaborate across teams. 
  • Commitment to best practice — A passion for evidence‑based care, continuous improvement, and ongoing professional learning. 
  • Ability to inspire others — A supportive, motivating presence who helps nurses grow and deliver excellence in patient care. 
 

Selection Criteria 
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below. 

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a post graduate qualification in a relevant clinical field or education post graduate qualification or a combination of education training and clinical experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
  • Give a brief overview of what education training and clinically relevant experience you bring with you to the role?
  • Describe how you apply adult learning principles and competency based assessment in your education or clinical teaching practice. In your response, outline how you design or deliver clinical programs, support evidence based nursing care, and contribute to safe, culturally responsive practice.
  • Provide an example that demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively, collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, and manage challenging interactions professionally. Include how you used critical thinking, upheld quality and safety standards, and contributed to risk management or quality improvement outcomes.
