About The Opportunity
Be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary team providing high-quality mental health care in a diverse and vibrant community. The Older People’s Mental Health Service based at Liverpool Hospital, within South Western Sydney Local Health District, presents a rewarding opportunity for a Staff Specialist Psychiatrist to join its experienced and collaborative team on a part-time basis. This role focuses on providing comprehensive, recovery-oriented mental health care to older adults experiencing complex psychiatric conditions, often in the context of medical comorbidities and age-related challenges. Working in a well-established service that values multidisciplinary collaboration, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the mental health and wellbeing of older people in the region. This position is ideal for a psychiatrist with a special interest in geriatric mental health who is seeking a flexible and professionally fulfilling role in a supportive clinical environment. What You'll be doing
Provide clinical management and treatment of patients in a SWSLHD facility under your care. This care will be provided within the clinical privileges granted by the Chief Executive (CE) on the advice of the SWSLHD Medical and Dental Appointments Advisory Committee (MDAAC).

- Current medical practitioner, registered, or eligible for registration, with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award and Certificate of Advanced Training in Old Age Psychiatry (RANZCP).
- Demonstrated current clinical practice of a high standard and ability to adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence based best practice.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or post graduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education/ continuing professional development.
- Preparedness to participate in a hospital, service or LHD on-call and ECT rosters.
- Evidence of ability to work cooperatively with other staff and practitioners and in a multidisciplinary health care team.
- Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
