About Us:
Liverpool Occupational Therapy department offers its staff the opportunity to work in a Specialist area- the Brain injury Rehabilitation Unit- providing rehabilitation care to Clients living in the Community within South western Sydney.

The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit strives to consistently provide high quality and safe care by using evidenced-based assessments and interventions, and conducting high quality improvement projects.  Staff are supported through the department’s clinical governance structures including a competency framework and supervision.  The dynamic nature of Liverpool Hospital and the department provides passionate, agile and adaptable clinicians an exciting work environment.


What you'll be doing
Provide a high quality occupational therapy service to clients and their families/carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes for the clients of the service. This encompasses ensuring effective and efficient entry, assessment, treatment planning, treatment implementation, evaluation and separation of patients/clients in a multi-disciplinary setting. The Occupational Therapist is also responsible for undertaking designated administrative tasks necessary to support service delivery.


Where you'll be working

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.

The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.

Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.

Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the UNSW Sydney and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.

  1. Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, with registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  2. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  3. Evidence of knowledge and commitment to the application of quality improvement and evidence based practice
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy in a range of programs
  5. Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education
  6. Demonstrated clinical experience and knowledge of Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for adults with Brain Injury and/or neurological conditions
  7. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
