Are you an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people? We have an exciting opportunity at the Liverpool/Fairfield Infant Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (ICAMHS) to join our dynamic Safeguards team.

Bridge to Care: With our community-based approach, we identify and support at-risk youth, 5 connecting them with culturally appropriate services and preventing them from falling through the cracks of mental healthcare.

Comprehensive Care: You'll have the opportunity to provide wraparound support at home and school, ensuring that children and families have access to the resources and follow-up care they need for lasting well-being.

About the Role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence-based practice. In this role, you’ll bring advanced clinical knowledge of child and adolescent mental health, paired with strong leadership capabilities where your expertise will help shape better mental health outcomes for young people and their families. You'll be instrumental in supporting the team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while contributing to service improvement, clinical supervision, and stakeholder engagement. The CNC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research, and professional leadership. The CNC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards, and evaluating their outcomes.

How to Apply

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
    At least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience, with at least 3 years full time equivalent experience in the specialty field. In addition, the employee must have approved postgraduate nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation
  2. Demonstrated evidence of strategies used to maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in the relevant specialty
  3. Demonstrated ability to apply expert knowledge to provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  5. Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  6. Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care
  7. Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
  8. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
