About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated After Hours Nurse Manager (Grade 3) to provide strategic clinical leadership and operational management during after- hours. In this pivotal role, you will act as the senior point of contact across the facility, ensuring safe, person-centred, and high-quality care continues outside of standard working hours.

As a visible and respected clinical leader, you will inspire, guide, and support multidisciplinary teams across the hospital, responding to complex clinical and operational issues with confidence and professionalism.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership, direction, and mentorship to nursing and clinical staff during after-hours shifts
  • Support and develop staff capability through coaching, role modelling and professional development.
  • Ensure effective communication and escalation of issues across all departments and executive management
  • Monitor patient flow, manage critical incidents, and maintain clinical safety across the hospital
  • Promote compliance with professional standards, codes of conduct, and NSW Health policies

 



What You'll be Doing

The Nurse Manager participates in or is responsible for the leadership and management of nursing services in a management unit, service, complex function or facility to ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.

Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is located in the city of Bankstown and is in one of the most multicultural local government areas (LGA) in Australia. This hospital has tertiary affiliations with three universities and offers a range of roles and experiences to employees.

  • Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant post graduate qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
  • Demonstrated senior nursing experience, including the ability to lead and manage staff, services, and resources in a complex healthcare environment to deliver safe, compassionate, and culturally responsive care.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, families, carers, and the multidisciplinary team, including managing conflicts, performance issues, and supporting collaborative care delivery.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to develop and implement goals, plans, meet KPIs and policy to improve service delivery and patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in contributing to and leading organisational change, quality improvement initiatives, risk management, and ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.
