Southern NSW Local Health District covers a large area of the Southern half of NSW. Your Opportunity:Provide an accountable and high standard of patient care in Palliative Care.
Be dedicated to a teamwork philosophy and be able to demonstrate ability to work as a team member within Palliative Care and the broader multi-disciplinary team.
Ensure detailed patient treatment plans are in place to support the timely management of patients requiring Palliative Care and in quality improvement.
Ensure a high standard of clinical record documentation in maintained. This includes the completion of all clinical records (including medication charts and other orders) to reflect clinical decisions and optimise data collection and activity based funding coding.
Communicate effectively with peers and other staff.
Adapt clinical practice in accordance with contemporary evidence-based best practice and any clinical protocols as approved by the LHD.
Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement activities relevant to palliative care.
Participate in peer review and other Continuing Medical Education activities consistent with College and AHPRA requirements to maintain professional standards.
Participate in building the capability of SNSWLHD health professionals to provide high quality, evidence based end of life and palliative care.
Selection Criteria:
Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.
Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health service colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Willingness and ability to travel as required to meet the needs of service provision across geographical distances and between LHD facilities.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
