An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified GP in Emergency Medicine to join the medical team at South East Regional Hospital in the Bega Valley, part of the Southern NSW - Coastal Network.
Where you’ll be working
Bega - 429 kilometres south of Sydney, 228 kilometres from Canberra or 174 kilometres from the NSW Snow fields. Nearby Merimbula (32 kilometres) offers a regional airport with a short 55 minute flight to Sydney and daily flights to Melbourne. With a range of quality private and public schools in the area, younger generations are also be well looked after, growing up with fantastic friendly country folk, and a huge range of outdoor activities to keep them occupied with no long commutes.

Selection Criteria:
Holds registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist, General Practice (FRACGP or FACRRM) or training towards specialist or additional qualifications for Emergency Medicine (such as Fellowship in General Practice or ACEM Emergency Medicine Diploma).
Demonstrated significant senior experience relevant to Emergency Medicine practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, build collaborative partnerships and provide leadership of a team.
Demonstrated experience, understanding and commitment to patient safety and other aspects of clinical governance.
Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical, nursing and allied health professionals and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD Values, goals and strategies. Commitment to participate in an equitable medical roster, including evenings, nights and weekend shifts
Additional qualifications in Emergency Medicine desirable.
Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases
This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
