Where you'll be working & What you'll be doing

Goulburn Base Hospital is a Level 4 facility at the role delineation in NSW Health. The Clinical Services Building which opened in 2021 has three operational theatres with a range of elective and emergency surgery performed. Currently this includes General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology and Oral Surgery.

Our anaesthetic medical workforce comprises of 2 anaesthetists in elective theatres, one each in pre-assessment clinic and Anaesthetist-on-Duty (AOD) roles. The latter also provides Acute Pain Review Services to the facility.

The incumbent will provide anaesthetic services at Goulburn Base Hospital including contribution to the on-call/after-hours roster, in conjunction with other anaesthetists. You will actively engage in clinical governance to ensure provision of safe services and participate in the Department of Anaesthesia meetings.

The incumbent will supervise and assist in educational and professional development of undergraduate and postgraduate students, SRMOs and Registrars. You will maintain productive relationships with other providers both internal and external and provide a high standard of professional service.
Provide contemporary comprehensive GP Anaesthetic services for optimal patient outcomes. 
  
Provide and support training to clinicians across multiple disciplines to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice . 

Selection Criteria:

  1. Fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent overseas qualification either eligible for Expedited Specialist Pathway or the ANZCA Specialist Pathway
  2. Registered or eligible for registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  3. Demonstrated current clinical experience in Anaesthesia at an appropriate level.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of clinical governance principles including the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) standards.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and provide effective leadership.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to teaching, clinical research, simulation and quality improvement.
  7. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues and staff; and effective communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.

Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specific Diseases

This is a Category ‘A’ position, please read and understand NSW Health policy directive PD2024_015. All new employees must agree to comply with the requirements outlined in this policy. OASV requirements also include proof of vaccination against influenza and is compulsory for NSW Staff that enter any Residential Aged Care Facility (RACF) or who work in NSW Health owned and operated RACFs.
