Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a Visiting Medical Officer in Orthopaedic Surgery to join our team at The Canterbury Hospital

We are looking for a Visiting Medical Officer in Orthopaedic Surgery. The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic, consultative and surgical specialty services in Orthopaedic Surgery (Hand and Microsurgery) and to participate in on-call rosters, teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Orthopaedic Department and Hospital as required.

The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.

This is a Fee for Service Visiting Medical Officer position.

Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgery (FRACS) with recognised qualifications in Orthopaedics Surgery and post fellowship education and training (PFET) in Hand and Microsurgery and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.

Position is currently available. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from the beginning of the 2026 Clinical Year on 2 February 2026, may be considered.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
