Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Visiting Medical Officer to join our team at Canterbury Hospital

  

We are looking for a Visiting Medical Officer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology! The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Department and Hospital as required. 

  

The appointee to this position will be prepared to participate in an on-call roster for the O&G service for the facility, and to attend and support training medical officers in managing emergency cases, in particular obstetric emergencies, at any time.   

  

The Visiting Medical Officer will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development. 

  

The successful applicant will be currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) with recognised qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and/or other equivalent specialist recognition.

  

This position is currently available. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from the beginning of the 2026 Clinical Year on 2 February 2026, may be considered.

  

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
