Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist (General Practitioner) to join our team at Croydon Health Centre.
We are looking for a Staff Specialist (General Practitioner) in the Specialist Team for Intellectual Disability Sydney (STrIDeS). The primary purpose of the role of Staff Specialist in the Specialist Team for Intellectual Disability Sydney (STrIDeS) is to bring general practice medical expertise in contributing to development and implementation of the Shared Care Model Intellectual Disability that is a component of the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)/Intellectual Disability Shared Care Model.
This Shared Care model is being developed by SLHD Community Paediatrics and the Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network (CESPHN) and is based at Croydon Health Centre.
The Staff Specialist will be a member of the multidisciplinary STriDes team established by NSW Health to improve the health of people with intellectual disability through clinical assessment and management and health sector capacity building as part of the Specialist Intellectual Disability Health Teams initiative.
The Staff Specialist will provide advice to STrIDeS’ assessment and short to medium term management of referred clients and contribute to capacity building, including connecting with people with intellectual disability with unmet health needs; however, they won’t carry primary responsibility for undertaking comprehensive health assessments and related care but will contribute to assessment and management through case formulation and recommendations relevant for primary care. They will also advise on and facilitate engagement and implementation of recommendations in the context of primary care.
This innovative model of care will provide support to primary health care practitioners, especially General Practitioners, and improve collaboration between primary care and STrIDeS to improve patient access and care within primary health care sector.
The Staff Specialist will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) and/or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACCRM), with recognised specialist qualifications in General Practice and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award. Possession of a current NSW Driver’s Licence (P2 Licence will be accepted).
Position is currently available. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from date of application, may be considered.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
