Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

  

We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the AW Morrow Professor of Medicine! The AW Morrow Professor in Gastroenterology and Hepatology is a Conjoint Professorial position at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital/Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) and the University of Sydney and has a long history of clinical care for patients, research and teaching in the fields of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Liver Transplantation. 
 
The AW Morrow Professor will have primary expertise in Liver Transplant Hepatology.  As Conjoint Professor, they will have a strong track record as a clinical leader and in research, education and research supervision. They will take a strategic lead in planning and directing research and teaching programs related to Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Liver Transplantation, and show strong dedication to the well-being and development of both students and staff, along with a deep understanding of the Hospital and University's priorities and operational context.

The RPAH Liver Transplant Unit undertakes between 90-110 patient transplants per year with associated post operative inpatient care. The ambulatory care involves single face to face consultations for approximately 30-50 patients per week. The Transplant Hepatologists follow up all Unit patients (approx. 1500) and provide a tertiary referral consultation service to patients with advanced liver disease, primary liver cancer, and complex liver disease, and a liver consultation service to the local community.  There is an active national and international research program of clinical trials, translational clinical research and potential for wet laboratory research, as well as post-graduate and student teaching within RPAH and the University.  

The appointment with RPAH/SLHD will be in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist Award and as Conjoint Professor of the University of Sydney in Sydney Medical School, Central Clinical School, noting that conjoint appointment with the University carries with it responsibility to report to the University on relevant academic initiatives, progress and outcomes. 

The AW Morrow Chair will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development.
  
The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and  Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with recognised qualifications in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.
   
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
