Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a Deputy Chief Medical Information Officer to join our team!

  

Health informatics is the interdisciplinary study of the design, development, adoption and application of IT-based innovations in healthcare services delivery, management and planning. Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is a leader in health informatics in Australia.

  

The Deputy Chief Medical Informatics Officer (DCMIO) is responsible for coordinating and supporting the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) in strategic and operational physician leadership in the development, deployment, reengineering, optimization and integration of clinical information systems to support clinicians and patient care. The DCMIO provides leadership, consultation, and coordination for the transformation of care processes and outcomes in coordination with a multidisciplinary team including Medical Informatics Officers, with the appropriate clinical, leadership, computer science, information management and research and analysis skills to be able to successfully drive informatics for the Local Health District (LHD).

  

The DCMIO will be required to contribute to and provide leadership to the management of the Department of Medical Informatics and to in developing the training and research profile of the Health Informatics Unit for SLHD. They will be expected to contribute to activities that seek to improve the adoption, safety, usability and effectiveness of clinical information systems in SLHD.

  

The successful applicant will be registered, or eligible for registration, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), and with specialist recognition with a relevant Australian Medical College and/or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

  

Salary and conditions are in accordance with NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
