About the Role 

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

  

Provide a professional, trauma informed social work service that addresses the psychosocial aspects of care by providing interventions including crisis intervention, brief intervention, advocacy, service coordination, case management education and resources to Adult Drug Court Program (ADCP) clients who are on the SLHD Opioid Treatment Programs (OTP) and other SLHD DHS OTP clients as required. Provide support and mentorship to staff, including provision of supervision and direction to Level 1/2 Social Work staff and students on clinical placements in accordance with the award.  

  

The position's requirements include: 

  • Undertaking comprehensive psychosocial assessments for clients engaged in the Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) and/or Adult Drug Court Program (ADCP), including assessment of substance use, mental health, physical health, housing, legal, and psychosocial needs.
  • Providing case management to a mixed caseload of OTP clients and ADCP participants.
  • Delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including motivational interviewing, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and supportive counselling.
  • Planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on ADCP services to support effective and efficient clinical service delivery.
  • Participating in weekly multidisciplinary clinical review meetings.
  • Preparing court reports and attend court as required.
  • Providing clinical support and mentoring to the OTP Level 1/2 Social Worker, in addition to formal clinical supervision of other Level 1 and Level 2 staff within the service, as required.

Ideal Candidate

  • Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, with experience at Level 2 or higher. Must possess a current NSW Drivers Licence (P2 licence is acceptable). 
  • Advanced clinical knowledge, skill, and significant clinical experience in the provision of Social Work in the field of Drug and Alcohol services and/or Mental Health Services. 
  • High level verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences. 
  • Ability to independently problem solve, apply professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations as per of a multidisciplinary team.
