About the Role
Community Mental Health Services provide a range of services designed to help support the recovery and help consumer stay well in the community. The team provide specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers and Peer Support Workers. Our main sites are at Canterbury, Croydon, Camperdown, Marrickville, and Redfern Community Health Services. The role will be based at Camperdown.
The “Community Older People’s Mental Health Team” (OPMH Team) is a specialty service of the community mental health system. OPMH Team provide a range of clinical services including intake, assessment, consultation, treatment and care coordination. Care coordination is the main component of this model of care and includes extended care coordination, targeted packages of care and short term care coordination.
Consumers under the care of OPMH Teams will either have:
- Short term interventions and may be discharged or referred back to their GPs or other treatment providers after a period of weeks or months
- A period of treatment as recommended by evidence based practices.

This role will provide senior clinical leadership within Social Work service provision including optimisation of patient/client care delivery, as well as supporting the mentoring and development of staff including provision of supervision and direction to Level 1/2 staff and students on clinical placements in accordance with the award.

Ideal Candidate
- Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Social Work that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, with Current NSW Driver’s Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of social work, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
