About the Role 

Community Mental Health Services provide a range of services designed to help support the recovery and help consumer stay well in the community. The team provide specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers and Peer Support Workers. Our main sites are at Canterbury, Croydon, Camperdown, Marrickville, and Redfern Community Health Services. The role will be based at Camperdown. 

The Senior Mental Health Clinician (Allied Health Level 3) provides expert clinical advice to patients, carers and other health care professionals within a defined specialty through the delivery of specialist consultant service which: 

  • To provide effective short-term mental health intervention, assessment and crisis service to people experiencing an acute mental health concern in the community. This involves proactive mental health assessment and engagement in community settings.
  • To work in partnership with other agencies to provide psychosocial interventions aiming for maximal symptomatic and functional recovery and prevention of relapse.
  • Develops implements and evaluates care management plans for patients with complex health needs.
  • Provides leadership in the ongoing development of clinical practice.

The Acute Care Service operates a 7-day service from 08:00hrs until 22:00hrs. Therefore, the position will be a rotating one on a 7 day rotating roster.

Ideal Candidate
  1. Extensive experience as an Occupational Therapist (including AHPRA registration) or as a Social Worker, with experience at Level 2 or higher.
  2. Understanding of and commitment to recovery-oriented services.
  3. Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
