About the Role

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

  

The Research Officer is an integral member of the research team with responsibilities to assist with, planning, implementation, coordination, data management and reporting of research projects conducted within the unit.

  

The Research Officer will have responsibilities across multiple projects at any given time across diverse areas. This will include assisting in the development and implementation of research protocols, ethics submission, project management, patient recruitment, data collection, data analysis and report writing.

  

The Research Officer will utilise their knowledge of clinical and health services research in the establishment and maintenance of productive working relationships with internal and external collaborators, departments and staff.

Ideal Candidate 

  • Proficiency in a range of computer applications including Microsoft Office, medical electronic databases (e.g. Medline, PubMed, Embase,), REDCap and research software (e.g. SAS, SPSS, EndNote, Nvivo).
  • Coordinate research in line with approved protocols GCP, privacy laws, and SLHD research standards including ethics and governance amendments, milestone reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Complete pre and post-implementation data collection, management and analysis tasks.
  • Conduct literature reviews. 
  • Support project operation through progress reports and stakeholder updates.
