About the Role

The MGP Midwife will:  

  • Demonstrate a broad range of midwifery skills and knowledge to provide and coordinate woman-centred, evidence-informed, high quality, midwifery care (consistent with NSW and SLHD policies, procedures and standards) for women enrolled in the MGP and their families across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and postnatal/newborn care.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care in collaboration with the woman, her family, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team. 
  • Maintain responsibility for personal and professional development by participating in ongoing training/education activities, clinical supervision and performance reviews in order to continuously improve the level and quality of service.
  • Work with the authority, responsibility and accountability for the achievement and maintenance of quality care and monitoring of outcomes for allocated women. 
  • Provide support to other staff.

Ideal Candidate

  • Registration with AHPRA; availability and capacity to work and participate in an on-call, (24 hour per day/7 day per week) roster across the continuum of care that includes pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period as specified in the Pilot Annualised Salary agreement. 
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) and willingness to travel in the course of employment. 
  • Demonstrates commitment to professional development, including evidence informed practice and the acquisition and retention of comprehensive Midwifery skills (to be completed within 12 months of commencement). 
  • Commitment to professional midwifery practice: consistent with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council competency standards for midwives; in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Health, the ACM National Midwifery Guidelines for Consultation & Referral and Ministry of Health IB2014_050 Pilot Model Annualised Salary Agreement for Midwifery Group Practices. 
  • Gestational Diabetes experience as well as caring for and providing education to women and families is desirable.
