We are seeking an experienced and capable Project Manager Team Lead to lead and strengthen the project management function within DH&I!
About the Role
Sydney Local Health District’s Digital Health & Innovation (DH&I) team is delivering a significant portfolio of digital health initiatives to support patient care, operational efficiency, and clinical excellence across the District.
Reporting to the Director, Program Delivery, this role oversees a team of project professionals (approximately 15–20 staff) and is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of complex digital health projects across multiple facilities and services. Beyond project delivery, this role plays a key leadership function in uplifting project management capability, strengthening governance standards, enhancing reporting maturity, and supporting proactive risk management across the portfolio. This role also plays a key role in supporting the successful transition and transformation of digital health initiatives into operational environments, working closely with clinical, operational and change stakeholders.
Your responsibilities are to:
- Lead and manage the DH&I Project Management team, ensuring consistent delivery standards across projects.
- Ensure project delivery practices align with recognised best-practice frameworks and NSW Health standards.
- Support structured portfolio, program and project health checks to strengthen transparency, consistency, and proactive identification of risks and issues.
- Partner with the PMO function to improve portfolio reporting quality and support continuous improvement in project data integrity.
- Oversee project financial tracking, budget monitoring, and effective management of risks, issues, dependencies, and scope.
- Support resource planning and workforce alignment for the project management team in line with DH&I priorities.
- Maintain effective relationships with clinical, operational, ICT and executive stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with change, clinical and operational teams to support adoption, transition to BAU and realisation of intended benefits.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and professional development to project staff to uplift capability and performance.
- Contribute to governance forums by providing delivery insights and informed advice to support sound decision-making.
- Support visibility of benefits and outcomes across the digital health portfolio.

Ideal Candidate
- Tertiary qualifications in project management, ICT, health, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience delivering complex projects within large organisations.
- Proven leadership experience managing project teams.
- Experience in governance, financial monitoring, and risk management.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable) and ability to travel between facilities.
- Formal project management certifications such as PRINCE2 (Agile), PMP, ScrumMaster, MSP or equivalent (would be beneficial).
- ITIL certification or demonstrated experience aligning project delivery with service management frameworks (would be beneficial).
Experience delivering within digital health transformation environments (would be beneficial).
