About the Role

The Walker High Severity Psychiatric Unit is located within the Concord Centre for Mental Health (CCMH) campus and is an inpatient quaternary referral unit for young people living with complex mental health issues.  It is also part of the wider Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) service.

 

Young people admitted to the unit are living with complex mental health issues, including trauma and nursing staff are pivotal in the patient and family experience of the inpatient therapeutic milieu.

 

The Nursing Unit Manager Level 3 (NUM3) provides operational management and leadership of nursing staff to ensure the provision of high-quality consumer and family centred care as well as the delivery of clinical nursing excellence.

 

This is an ideal opportunity for a senior nurse who is interested in managing a mental health nursing team, expanding and extending their experience in the Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) space, developing or enhancing their operational leadership skills, and working in a specialist team within the Mental Health Service.

Ideal Candidate

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Experience in Child and Adolescent Mental Health inpatient nursing.
  • An understanding of the principles of trauma-informed care in adolescent mental health settings.
  • Proven clinical management and leadership experience in a tertiary/district health care facility.
  • Experience in quality and change management promoting clinical excellence.
