About the Role

Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.

  

The overall purpose of this position is to improve immunisation coverage in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

  

The Female Immunisation Education Officer Aboriginal Identified will be responsible for contributing to the safe and effective delivery of immunisations to the Aboriginal Community. They will be expected to provide education, network and build relationships between relevant parties including communities, parents, public health units, Aboriginal Medical Services, other immunisation providers and other stakeholders with the aim of improving and maintaining high vaccination rates.

Ideal Candidate

  • Tertiary qualification with eligibility for membership to relevant professional association or appropriate registration with AHPRA if required, and/or experience with Aboriginal people and/or communities towards better health outcome. 
  • Strong connection to an Aboriginal community, with lived experience and a deep understanding of the cultural, social, and health issues affecting Aboriginal peoples, along with a commitment to improving health outcomes. 
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable). 

  

Being female is recognised as a genuine occupation qualification and is authorised under section 31(2h) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

  

This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977.
