About the Role
Formed in 1882, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities.
The Workforce Manager is focused at a senior management level and the primary function is to provide leadership, strategic direction and guidance in the development, integration, review and co-ordination of workforce management issues. The position plays a pivotal role in managing organisational change through workforce policies and programs whilst influencing outcomes to meet Workforce change objectives.
Within Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) policies and guidelines, and within a medium sized facility, the Workforce Manager has authority to resolve issues and make important workforce decisions based on legal, statutory and industrial standards incorporating, but not limited to, the following matters: employment, award compliance including remuneration, disciplinary action, grievances, discrimination, retraining and redeployment, and safety issues.
You will be responsible for the effective and efficient general management of the workforce function within a medium sized facility to ensure the provision of a range of quality customer focused human resource and advisory functions that meet the needs of the District.
You will be works in collaboration with managers and employees within their portfolio and takes responsibility for the implementation of government and SLHD workforce priorities in a way that promotes a positive workplace culture and organisational performance.

Ideal Candidate
- Ability to lead, develop, motivate and manage a professional workforce services team in the provision of the full range of Workforce services across a complex medium sized business environment comprising diverse occupational streams to achieve organisational goals.
- Experience in integrating workforce issues into the strategic planning processes of a medium sized diverse organisation and managing the change process.
- Extensive experience in providing expert technical and specialised strategic Workforce/Employee relations advice and services at a senior level in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.
