About the Role

In this role, you are expected to provide healthcare services (community development, health education group work, visual arts, outreach activities and programs) to Aboriginal and other marginalised and ‘at risk’ young people with the aim of linking young people through:

  • Working creatively to engage with the target group, particularly those young people not linked in with a service.
  • Accessing and linking with young people through the Intake Officer.
  • Working with Aboriginal and other ‘at risk’ young people and relevant community members and services to identify what their needs are and co-design strategies to address these needs.
  • Developing creative, innovative programs appropriate for Aboriginal and other ‘at risk’ young people to address their needs.
  • Linking Aboriginal and other young people to mainstream health and other appropriate services.
  • Providing case management to Aboriginal and other ‘at risk’ young people within the health service.

Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant Aboriginal health and/or community qualifications and/or experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in engaging and working effectively with Aboriginal young people and other marginalised young people and an understanding of issues affecting their health and wellbeing. 
  • Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable). 

  

This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
