Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking an experienced Staff Specialist to join our team at The Canterbury Hospital 

 

We are looking for a Staff Specialist in Respiratory Medicine! The primary purpose of the role of Staff Specialist in Respiratory Medicine is to provide high quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services in respiratory medicine, and to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Canterbury Hospital General Medicine Department and wider hospital as required. 

The Staff Specialist in Respiratory Medicine will provide clinical management and treatment of patients with respiratory illnesses. They will be a member of the Department of General Medicine  and participation on the General Medicine on-call roster is negotiable . 
    
The Staff Specialist in Respiratory Medicine will ensure a high standard of professional performance and encouragement of an academic environment which supports education, research and professional development. 

Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Applicants must have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) with recognised qualifications in Respiratory Medicine and/or other equivalent specialist recognition as provided for in the NSW Staff Specialists (State) Award.

Position will be available from September 2026. In addition, applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within two months from this date, may be considered.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Staff Specialist (State) Award.
