About the Role
You will be working at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. It is one of the nation’s most respected hospitals, with a distinguished history of serving the health needs of local, statewide, national and international communities. Our facilities and services are world class and our staff are dedicated, innovative and caring.
The RPAH MGP team work on call to provide continuity of care for women and families from pregnancy, intrapartum and postnatal period, from the booking in visit at 12-14 weeks through until postnatal care for the woman and baby up until day 14 post birth. The MGP team is supported by a Midwifery Manager, Midwifery Unit Manager on service 24 hours a day, Clinical Midwifery Educator and Clinical Midwifery Consultant. Antenatal care can be provided in the hospital or in outreach clinics. Midwives are able to provide labour care in the low risk Birth Centre or the Delivery Unit.
The MGP Midwife will:
- Demonstrate a broad range of midwifery skills and knowledge to provide and coordinate woman-centred, evidence-informed, high quality, midwifery care (consistent with NSW and SLHD policies, procedures and standards) for women enrolled in the MGP and their families across the continuum of pregnancy, birth and postnatal/newborn care.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care in collaboration with the woman, her family, and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Maintain responsibility for personal and professional development by participating in ongoing training/education activities, clinical supervision and performance reviews in order to continuously improve the level and quality of service.
- Work with the authority, responsibility and accountability for the achievement and maintenance of quality care and monitoring of outcomes for allocated women.
- Provide support to other staff.

Ideal Candidate
- Registration with AHPRA; availability and capacity to work and participate in an on-call, (24 hour per day/7 day per week) roster across the continuum of care that includes pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period as specified in the Pilot Annualised Salary agreement.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
- Ability to proactively engage with pregnant women and their families and to enhance their experience of service delivery.
- Experience working across the full scope of midwifery practice is desirable.
- Availability and capacity to work and participate in an on-call roster
