About the Role
The People & Culture Team is undergoing transformation, and this is a brand-new position that you can make your own. The Director, People Operations provides strategic leadership, governance and operational oversight of district wide workforce operational services across Sydney Local Health District (SLHD). The role is responsible for the delivery, coordination and continuous improvement of core workforce operations including recruitment, workforce establishment management, payroll interface and governance, HR systems administration, related workforce reporting, and operational workforce programs.
The position ensures that workforce operational services are delivered consistently, efficiently and in compliance with NSW Health policy, legislative requirements and industrial instruments. The Director works closely with the Executive Director People & Culture and other P&C leaders to ensure workforce operational systems and processes effectively support the District’s workforce strategy, service delivery priorities and statewide reforms, including the People & Culture for Future Health program. The position is the senior relationship manager for all workforce services provided by HealthShare NSW, overseeing service quality and cost effectiveness.
The role provides expert advice to the Executive Director People & Culture and senior leaders on workforce operational governance, workforce systems and reporting, ensuring that operational workforce functions support organisational performance, workforce sustainability and service delivery outcomes.

Ideal Candidate
- Extensive experience leading workforce operations or human resources functions within a large, complex organisation.
- Experience of leading programs of change where new processes, systems and operating models have been successfully implemented.
- Ability to lead and manage large teams and operational services to deliver high quality, compliant workforce services, ensuring a positive team culture and developing staff.
