The Emergency Department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is excited to introduce a newly created Administration / Office Manager position. We are seeking a dynamic, highly organised and motivated leader to oversee the clerical operations of our busy department. Working closely with the Nurse Manager and Medical Director of Emergency, this role will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership to a dedicated team of clerical staff, ensuring high-quality administrative support for patients, families and the clinical team. Previous experience in health administration, team leadership and people management will be highly regarded. This is a full-time permanent position working 38hours per week, Monday-Friday 0800-1630 (Times are negotiable).

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health administration, business management, human resources, or related discipline OR demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience in a healthcare or complex administrative environment.
  2. Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising clerical or administrative teams in a high-volume service environment.
  3. Proven skills in managing day-to-day office and business operations, including rostering, payroll coordination, and resource allocation.
  4. Demonstrated high-level organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a high-pressure, dynamic environment such as an Emergency Department.
  5. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including clinical, administrative, and executive staff, as well as patients and their families
  6. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, NSW Health policies and procedures, including workplace health and safety, equity and diversity, privacy, and confidentiality.
  7. Familiarity with NSW Health systems (e.g., eMR, StaffLink, Health Roster SARA, finance systems, firstnet) (desirable).
