About the Role
Sydney Local Health District has a long and proud history of delivering care in the community including prevention, early intervention, assessment, treatment, health maintenance and continuing care services designed to improve and support the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
The Sydney Local Health District Child Sexual Assault Counselling Service provides tertiary level child centric family focused counselling intervention to children, young people and their families and carers where sexual assault has occurred or is suspected, or where there is problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours in under ten year olds.
The Child Sexual Assault Counsellor is an integral part of the multidisciplinary health care team within the SLHD Community Health Facility. The counsellor will provide specialist ongoing counselling, advocacy and specific case management to children, young people and their families and carers of the Sydney Local Health District in order to meet their health and wellbeing needs.

Ideal Candidate
- Must hold a Bachelor of degree in Social Work or equivalent that provides eligibility for full membership of Australian Association of Social Work (AASW) with experience at Level 2 or higher.
- Demonstrated understanding of the dynamics and effects of child and young person sexual assault and best practice models for working with children, young people and their families or carers who have experienced sexual abuse/trauma.
- Demonstrated assessment, case management and counselling skills with children, young people and their families or carers.
- Current NSW Drivers Licence (P1 and P2 acceptable).
