About the Role
Community Mental Health Services provide a range of services designed to help support the recovery and help consumer stay well in the community. The team provide specialist services for young people, children and families, adults, and older people. Community mental health services include a specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Team, bilingual mental health workers and Peer Support Workers. Our main sites are at Canterbury, Croydon, Camperdown, Marrickville, and Redfern Community Health Services. The role will be based at Camperdown.

The Aboriginal Mental Health Unit Team Leader is responsible for management and clinical leadership of the multidisciplinary Aboriginal Mental Health Unit. 
  
The Team Leader is expected to liaise closely with all other teams within Mental Health to ensure coherent, effective, safe, evidence based, and equitable service delivery. This includes responsibility for compliance with Mental Health Act requirements, coordination of the multi-disciplinary team including medical staff, effective access and discharge procedures, ensuring key performance indicators are met, incident and complaints management, rostering, and team based operational and strategic planning. The Team Leader will build and maintain partnerships with external agencies and co located agencies that will lead to improved health outcomes and contribute to the development of Sydney LHD Mental Health as a teaching and learning organisation.

Ideal Candidate

 

  • This is an Identified Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Applicants for this position must be of Aboriginal descent through parentage, identification as being Aboriginal and being accepted in the community as such. Exemption is claimed under Section 14 of the Anti Discrimination Act 1977, and have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures with established links with the local communities.
  • Must hold a Bachelor or post graduate degree in Occupational Therapy or Social Work that provides eligibility for full membership of the relevant professional association and/or registration with AHPRA; For Senior Clinical Psychologists must hold a Masters or Doctorate/PhD in clinical psychology that provides eligibility for full membership of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and ACPA and AHPRA registration.
  • Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication, time management and computing, skills; current unrestricted NSW drivers license (P2 licence acceptable).
