About the Role
The Burudyara Concord Forensic Rehabilitation Mental Health Unit is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility being established as part of the NSW Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program. Located on the grounds of the Concord Centre for Mental Health, the Unit will provide rehabilitation for 18 medium secure and 24 low secure forensic mental health beds. Designed with facilities to meet patients where they’re at and support their pathway to recovery and transition back into the community to live meaningful, purposeful lives significantly expanding access to specialised care.
The Senior Occupational Therapist provides clinical and administrative leadership, sets professional standards, assists with clinical practice development and coordinates the development of quality and research in Forensic Mental Health Occupational Therapy services in Sydney Local Health District. The position will work with the multidisciplinary as a senior clinician ensuring an efficient and effective occupational therapy service is provided to consumers of the service. The post holder will carry a clinical caseload, be responsible for the clinical supervision of staff/students and will receive ongoing supervision and support from the Head of Department (or delegate).

Ideal Candidate
- Holds qualifications recognised for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and hold general registration with AHPRA
- Holds a current, unrestricted NSW driver licence (P1 and P2 licence acceptable).
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge, skill and significant clinical experience in the provision of occupational therapy in forensic mental health services, including a demonstrated working knowledge of the relevant legislation for this caseload.
- Extensive experience and demonstrated ability in building and maintaining professional and therapeutic relationships through the application of written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
