Nurse Manager - Development of Practice and Workplace Capabilities

The Role
The primary role of the Nurse Manager, Development of Practice and Workplace Capabilities is to model professional leadership and provide high-level advice to the SESLHD Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services in relation to professional nursing and midwifery practice and workplace culture.
The position is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and governing the implementation of Local Health District nursing and midwifery initiatives involving the development of professional nursing and midwifery practice and workplace culture related to SESLHD strategic priorities.
Being informed of innovation and International, National and State directions in regard to the profession and practice of Nursing and Midwifery is a requirement of the position. To support patient safety and evidence based clinical practice this position will provide leadership in relation to entry nursing and midwifery programs, models of care, quality improvement, professional standards, clinical practice, policy and education and development across the SESLHD. The position will actively work within the SESLHD Nursing & Midwifery: Our Strategy for Transforming Person-Centred Cultures 2024-2029 and focus on capacity and capability development of the nursing and midwifery workforce, collaboration with internal and external partners and the development of effective positive workplace cultures.

Selection Criteria

  1. Current registration as a Registered Nurse or Midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia, and current Drivers License and willingness to utilise as required for the position.
  2. Relevant tertiary qualifications in health management or education or working towards attainment, with demonstrated experience in nursing/midwifery management and leadership.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead the design, delivery and evaluation of District-wide strategies relating to leadership, and practice development, quality improvement and workplace culture.
  4. Excellent conceptual, analytical, problem solving and planning skills and the ability to apply these to support SESLHD Nursing and Midwifery strategic directions.
  5. High level oral and written communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to engage, liaise, consult and negotiate in a collaborative way with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Comprehensive knowledge of professional and practice issues surrounding nursing and midwifery clinical practice at a local, national and international level.
  7. Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team and engage key stakeholders.
  8. Excellent computer literacy skills in all aspects of MS Office and corporate systems.
