The NSW Organ and Tissue Donation Service is the state-wide NSW Health agency responsible for increasing organ and tissue donation for transplantation in NSW. Each year the lives of thousands of Australians are transformed through organ and tissue transplants however more donors are needed for the 1,650 Australians on organ transplant waiting lists at any one time. The role
 
The NUM is responsible for working with the Director of Nursing (DON) in the day to day management of NSW Donation Specialist Coordinators at the OTDS and NSW Donation Specialist Nurses in collaboration with relevant LHD management arrangements. 
 
The NUM provides clinical leadership and is an exemplary role model for the Donation Specialist nursing staff. 
 
The NUM works with the DON in addressing nursing practice, clinical governance, education and policy and procedure development.  
 
The NUM, in collaboration with the DON, supports the donation specialist nursing staff, ensures effective liaison with other health services and works with the DON in overseeing education, environmental and occupational health and safety management of the service.

Selection Criteria

  1. Registered or eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse by AHPRA.
  2. Post registration qualification in a critical care specialty or equivalent experience or a combination of work and study.
  3. Demonstrated skills in leadership within a health care setting.
  4. Has undertaken and continues to engage in professional development to further advance their management and leadership competencies.
  5. A demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation.
  6. Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
