Where you'll be working:
Population and Community Health (PaCH) is part of South Eastern Sydney Local Health District.
PaCH provides community health services that give care to individuals, families and carers, as well as population health services that focus on the whole community or key groups within the community.
PaCH's services are provided at the District's hospitals, community-based facilities including child and family health centres, community health centres and specialist clinics. We work with other service providers across South Eastern Sydney Local Health District, including hospitals and mental health services.

The Role:
The Kirketon Road Centre (KRC) is a primary health care facility located in Kings Cross, which is involved in the prevention, treatment and care of HIV/AIDS and other transmissible infections among 'at-risk' young people, sex workers and people who inject drugs.
This position provides high quality counselling, case management, social welfare and therapeutic support to clients at KRC and associated sites. KRC counselling services are provided in a non-judgmental, client centred way. This is done with a view to promoting client self-determination through the acquisition of knowledge and skills. To also work collaboratively to build trusting relationships with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander clients and their families where needed.
KRC is one of the SESLHD Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services, and this position may collaborate with those services as required.

- Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology or counselling, and hold a current NSW driver's licence.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Extensive experience with demonstrated skills in the provision of counselling, case management and/or psycho-social support to clients with complex needs / co-morbidities. Ability to provide trauma-informed culturally appropriate counselling and case management.
- Understanding of primary healthcare principles and commitment to harm minimisation approach to drug use, applying flexible, eclectic and non-judgemental approaches to client care including culturally secure approaches.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends provding outreach services to vulnerable populations including COVID testing and vaccinations.
- Experience in the design, delivery and evaluation of activities, training and/or programs to clients and other health professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and to exercise independent professional judgement, commensurate with years of experience including experience and knowledge of issues effecting Aboriginal clients and community.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and evidence based practice and to ongoing clinical and professional learning receiving culturally sensitive support and supervision.
