An exciting opportunity exists for an individual to develop their professional skills while positively contributing to the Patient Safety Officer role. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to take up this opportunity and join our team as a Health Service Manager!

This role is responsible for providing support services for the administration of clinical governance and risk within the Mental Health Service (MHS). The Patient Safety Officer works within the Mental Health Service Clinical Governance Unit, in collaboration with stakeholders, to support delivery of a continuously improving, safe and innovative Mental Health Service.  This role supports the Clinical Governance and Risk Manager in relation clinical governance portfolios and risk management. 

The Patient Safety Officer plays a key role in the recording, briefing and monitoring of incidents, as well as analysis of incident data and other data to produce reports, to ensure that matters affecting patient safety are identified and escalated in a timely manner.

You will be based at SESLHD Mental Health Service, District Office, located to the St George Hospital campus, Kogarah.

Role Requirements
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the following criteria in your application:

  1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health/ Safety Management or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and appreciation of clinical governance portfolios and risk management processes.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team in performing a range of management and administrative tasks within allocated timeframe.
  4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with key stakeholders.
  5. Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare briefings, reports and presentations in relation to risk management and patient safety.
  6. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt work practices to meet current and emerging business needs.
  7. Current driver’s licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position)
