What you'll be doing

- The Aboriginal Health Promotion Coordinator will facilitate planning, implementation and evaluation of community led Aboriginal initiatives and delivery of holistic care to Aboriginal people and their families, to improve the health and wellbeing of the local Aboriginal community.
- This role will provide support and advocacy, through Aboriginal health promotion and a holistic care approach, creating strong partnerships with Aboriginal community- controlled organisations, key stakeholders, and Aboriginal people and their families, to ensure culturally appropriate service delivery, the role will also enhance and strengthen community engagement with Equity and Prevention Services.

Selection Criteria
- Being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational qualification for this position and is authorised under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Aboriginal health, health promotion, public health or community development or relevant equivalent work experience or a combination of study and work experience and an understanding or experience working with Aboriginal families and supporting health staff to provide services for Aboriginal communities.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of Aboriginal health and health promotion principles and skills in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion programs and activities.
- Demonstrated effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload to meet conflicting deadlines.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare briefings and reports.
- Current drivers licence (with a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
