Maitland Hospital’s Preadmission Clinic is seeking a motivated and team-oriented Registered Nurse to join our dynamic and supportive team. Located within the Lower Hunter Sector of Hunter New England Health, Maitland Hospital delivers a wide range of comprehensive services across medical, surgical, mental health, maternity, and more supported by one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the country.

 

About the Service

Maitland Hospital features:

  • 6 operating theatres plus a dedicated Scope theatre
  • A broad surgical caseload including elective and trauma services
  • 24/7 emergency theatre access, operating across 7 days

The Preadmission Clinic operates Monday to Friday (morning shifts only) within the outpatient setting, focusing on patient assessment and preparation prior to theatre.

 

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in the Preadmission Clinic, you will play a key role in preparing patients for surgery by ensuring safe, coordinated, and high-quality care across a variety of specialties.

Working within the outpatient clinic setting, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting preadmission assessments for patients scheduled for surgery
  • Supporting patient safety and readiness across specialties including General, Endoscopy, ENT, Paediatrics, Urology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, and Orthopaedics
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care
  • Contributing to the “Every Patient, Every Time” Excellence framework
