- Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification, with subjects relevant to Haematology from a recognised tertiary institution
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the delivery of pathology services relevant to Haematology including (but not limited to) Morphology and Flow cytometry
- Proven experience in the use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems, Quality Control Systems and Middleware programs
- Customer focused approach with strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills including report writing skills, statistical evaluation of scientific data and the ability to effectively communicate with customers, patients, clinical and laboratory staff.
- Ability to participate in a rotating 24/7 shift roster which includes out-of-hours, weekends and on-call shifts.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, managing competing priorities to meet deadlines in a efficient manner.
- Display initiative, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to apply established principles and to investigate and resolve general and complex issues within the laboratory environment
- Sound understanding of legislation, policies and requirements that impact the laboratory environment including work health and safety, privacy and quality management.
