About the role
You will join one of the world’s leading and connected rural health services as the Health and Security Assistant where we are driven by a single goal; healthier rural people- thriving communities.
Supporting the care delivery team is at the heart of the Health and Security Assistant role. You will provide support to the nursing team in the delivery of patient care, under the guidance of nursing staff. You will undertake shift work, on a rotating roster and provide general assistance in wards, have cleaning duties and provide portering for patient transfers around the facility, and you will undertake security related duties as required and or directed.
In accordance with the requirements of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission Regulation 2013, any person engaged in NDIS related work is required to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC) clearance as part of their employment with Western NSW Local Health District if successful for this role.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, on time and ready to work. You will need to be physically fit, have a caring attitude and communicate clearly. You should be able to stay calm in busy or urgent situations and work well with others.
You will be supported by your team, and your work will be valued by both staff and the local community.
This role involves shift work on a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays.
Pay and benefits include:
• Base rate of $33.39 per hour
• Extra pay for shifts: afternoons (10–12.5%), nights (10–15%), Saturdays (50%), Sundays (75%), public holidays (150%)
• Annual leave with 17.5% loading
• Sick leave after a qualifying period
• Superannuation at 12%
Salary packaging (extra take-home pay):
You can choose to pay for some everyday expenses (like rent, mortgage or bills) using your pre-tax income.
This means you pay less tax and keep more of your pay each week.
• Up to $11,659 per year in non-remote areas (Bathurst, Blayney, Dubbo, Molong, Orange)
• Up to $20,668 per year in remote areas (more the 40KM from these towns/cities)
This can increase your take-home pay by around $65–$105 per week, depending on your situation.
