What you'll be doing
The Senior Radiation Therapist will assume a leadership role, supervising daily operations within a specific area of radiation therapy, ensuring comprehensive management of imaging, planning, and treatment processes in accordance with departmental and NSLHD policies. This involves both performing and overseeing others in the efficient simulation, planning, and delivery of patient treatments using ionizing radiation, while maintaining high technical standards and adhering to radiation and occupational health and safety protocols.
The position requires in-depth knowledge of radiation therapy processes, software solutions, and emerging technologies, alongside exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills. The position also requires a commitment to ongoing professional development, active participation in quality improvement, and contribution to supporting research activities or clinical trials.
The Senior Radiation Therapist plays a vital role in integrating information technology systems with clinical care in the Radiation Therapy department. This involves supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care through the effective use and maintenance of radiation therapy software and platforms. Responsibilities include aiding in the implementation, training, support, and continuous optimization of these systems, with a strong emphasis on clinical workflow and patient-centered care.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Graduate of a course in Medical Radiation Science - Radiation Therapy, accredited by the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT); and eligible for licensure by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and eligible for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Demonstrate the ability to lead a team and manage a treatment unit or other area of radiation therapy using effective communication, interpersonal, organisational and project management skills.
- Demonstrate commitment and active involvement in one's own continuing professional development.
- Active involvement, support for and leadership in quality improvement and research activities.
