Where you'll be working
You will be based at Royal North Shore Hospital in the Occupational Therapy Department however you will be responsible for provision of this service across the NSLHD as demand requires. There are two of these positions across the NSLHD and therefore rotation to the second site at Hornsby Kuringai Hospital may occur negotiated between the clinicians and the two site managers.
What you'll be doing
This Senior Occupational Therapist, Supportive and Palliative Care role is a clinical specialist who is required to facilitate the transition of patients from inpatient health facilities in NSLHD to home (or other suitable accommodation) for end-of-life care. As such, the position will be required to apply a high level of expertise in their clinical area of palliative care. Integration with the consult palliative care teams, MDT staff including acute care OTs, clients families & carers and external integrated care links is key as you respond to referrals from across the LHD sites.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy and current Australian Occupational Therapy registration (AHPRA).
- Demonstrated advanced communication and negotiation skills including verbal, written and multidisciplinary liaison. Advanced decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation.
- Evidence of advanced clinical skills and demonstrated significant experience in the provision of occupational therapy services for palliative care clients including complex equipment prescription at Level 3 or above.
Experience in and ability to initiate, lead, complete quality improvement initiatives along with service development initiatives.
