What you'll be doing
The In-Reach acute rehabilitation would ensure that patients requiring early rehabilitation receive appropriate &timely care aimed at maximising mobility &functional skills. As patients would be more “rehabilitation” ready, shorter LOS in acute care &greater throughput in rehab beds could result. In some cases given an initial intensive programme of PT &OT rehabilitation, it will be possible to discharge some patients directly home with appropriate supports &community / ambulatory care follow up.
The position must address all issues pertaining to the practice of Occupational Therapy &the promotion of professional practice standards. They will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services to the Acute In-Reach Rehabilitation Team, ensuring the provision of care meets the needs of patients and their families/carers.
The position also involves:
- The evaluation of the occupational therapy service to rehabilitation and the future development of the OT service to meet the needs to the clients and carers.
- Use of advanced clinical reasoning and practice skills in the field of acute care &rehabilitation
- The ability to exercise independent professional judgement in the management of cases
The Supervision of designated staff (support staff), education of under &post graduate professional staff, and the coordination of staff/own learning needs is expected.
Consultation to OTs both within the hospital &external to the organisation is required on matters pertaining to specialised OT practice within Rehabilitation and also requires appropriate representation at all levels, and executive (when pertaining to rehabilitation care issues and Occupational Therapy).

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

- Registration with APHRA, Occupational Therapy Board.
- Post graduate clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist Level 2 or above in acute Inpatient rehabilitation.
- Demonstrated experience and competency in developing and leading QI activities.
- Previous experience in clinical service development and evaluation.
