What you'll be doing
The Senior ICU Pharmacist leads the 7-day clinical pharmacy and quality use of medicines services within the Intensive Care Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital.
 

Provides expert guidance and advice to pharmacists and other healthcare professional providing clinical services in the Intensive Care Unit.
Leads education and training of clinical pharmacists working in the Intensive Care Unit to facilitate 7 day per week service delivery.
 

Participate in clinical pharmacy services provision including the general roster as required, including participating in weekend, public holiday, and on-call rosters. 
 

Leads relevant research and quality use of medicines initiatives, presenting at professional conferences & publication in relevant
journals.
 

Collaborates with senior clinicians in the Intensive Care Unit in the ongoing management of critical care patients at RNSH.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:




 

  1. Postgraduate qualifications in either Diploma of Hospital Pharmacy, Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy or any other relevant postgraduate qualifications. Current registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia with no conditions or restrictions on practice and evidence of extensive relevant hospital experience.
  2. Advanced-level clinical practice in intensive care pharmacy, including advanced skills and knowledge in critical care pharmacotherapy and ability to contribute to multidisciplinary decision-making in managing complex critically ill patients.
  3. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, maintain and share quality improvement and research activities, as well as implement innovative practice models and conduct service evaluation.
  4. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision, consistently prioritising tasks and managing high-pressure workloads. Skilled in applying advanced clinical reasoning and exercising independent professional judgement. Demonstrated ability to supervise other Pharmacy staff and be responsible for the supervision of other Pharmacists, as well as participation in teaching programs.
