What you'll be doing
The primary function of the OPMHS Registered Nurse is to work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team in order to provide high quality, evidenced based clinical care to Older People presenting with complex mental health issues in collaboration with the consumer & their carer/s, the consumers General Practitioner, Aged Care Services, other medical professionals and Non-Government Organisations (where applicable). The OPMHS consumer cohort requires specific and specialist assessment and interventions associated with the complexity of their clinical presentations including the presence of co-morbidities such as physical health problems, drug and alcohol use / abuse and issues of ageing including Dementia and the Behavioural & Psychological Symptoms of Dementia.
People of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background are encouraged to apply.
Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APRHA) registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrated skills in conducting comprehensive mental health assessment and management, including assessment, risk management and care coordination.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated understanding of the Recovery Model of care within Mental Health and the ability to implement and evaluate these care processes within the context of clinical care planning.
