Registered Nurse, Child and Family Health
The Child and Family Health Nurse works within a multi-disciplinary team as part of the Northern Sydney Local Health District (NSLHD) Child and Family Health Service. The Child and Family Health Nurse strives to maintain, improve and promote the optimal health and wellbeing of children and their families within the NSLHD community. Sound clinical judgement and effective communication skills are utilised in caring for families. The Child and Family Health Nurse is considerate to individual and cultural values and endeavours to empower families through a sensitive and flexible approach to service delivery.

Northern Beaches area (Child and Family Health)
- Provide a health screening, counselling and advisory service to infants, children, their families and carers in a variety of settings including Child and Family Health Centres, Family Care Centres and homes.
- Undertake health assessments and ongoing health and development screening and surveillance of infants and children as per NSLHD and NSW Ministry of Health guidelines.
- Identify actual or potential health issues through the application of clinical judgement and formulate, implement and evaluate a management plan for the individual infant or child in consultation with the family.
- Employ communication and interpersonal skills and techniques when working with families, carers and others that reflect the principles of Family Partnership.
- Plan and facilitate parent and community education groups to meet the needs of families within the community.
- Complete comprehensive and accurate documentation of all client contact, observations and interventions.
- All staff are expected to take reasonable care that their actions do not adversely affect the health and safety of others, that they comply with any reasonable instruction that is given them and with any reasonable policies/procedures relating to health or safety in the workplace, as well as notifying any hazards/risks or incidents to their manager.
- Participate in WHS education and training provided and be actively involved in WHS consultation in the workplace.
- Comply and adhere to statutory requirements and NSW Ministry of Health and NSLHD Policy and Procedures

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
- Registered Nurse – Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Current drivers licence recognised in NSW.
- Recognised post graduate qualifications in Child and Family Health or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices used when providing health services to families in their homes.
- Ability to demonstrate counselling skills, group facilitation skills and working in partnership with families.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clients, colleagues and other professionals both verbal and written.
